Founded in 1996 as a distributor of industrial products and power generation equipment for the developing world, Gentec shifted focus in 2004 to the full construction of power plants, with specific expertise in natural gas fired power generation in Africa.

Gentec has long been promoting natural gas as a preferable substitute to conventional liquid fuels such as diesel and HFO throughout the developing world; being cleaner and cheaper than diesel, natural gas offers both financial incentives and environmental benefits. Natural gas emits just 10% of the nitrogen and sulphar emissions of diesel. 

Gentec was an early pioneer in the Nigerian gas to power market and invested heavily in developing it’s EPC capabilities to develop gas fired power plants and CNG & LNG processing facilitates. The first power plants were established in Europe (Belgium and Spain) and subsequently heavily scaled in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Gentec’s typical EPC scope includes a detailed feasibility study, engineering design for the project, procurement of all plant equipment and materials, construction and installation of equipment to deliver a top quality functioning facility, plant commissioning and safety testing and after sales operations & maintenance support. Gentec has successfully built over 100 energy centers across Africa, Europe and Asia, including gas fired, hydro, solar, biomass and ethanol power plants as well as natural gas compression (CNG) and downloading stations.
